The Open Metaverse Research Group currently meets via email list and in Kitely, with a Second Life group also created. Both groups are called "Open Metaverse Research Group" and are open-enrollment. Our objective is to support the development of open standards and possibly some tech solutions for an interoperable, scalable, non-proprietary metaverse based on existing and still to be developed "grids" or whatever succeeds the grid concept of metaverse elements. Many of us are leaning heavily in the direction of a blockchain-based, smart-contract-based interoperable open metaverse. We hope to coordinate with other groups who have similar goals as well as work on our own projects intended for the good of the entire metaverse.
